5 Spring Beauty Essentials

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

Who doesn't love spring? The days get lighter, the air gets hotter and my Netflix account gets an influx of new seasons of my favourite american shows, I mean come on, what's not to love?! Spring is a great season for Netflix, but it's also a great season for beauty. Beauty in the Spring for me is all about finding products that can help restore my skin and body from the harsh winter climate and pruning it into a supple and hydrated state.

Now I will admit, I never thought I'd ever get to the stage in which I would ever share my 5 Beauty Essentials for any season, but I have recently started to appreciate more of beauty and more of what make up can offer. I have realised that it is: like fashion, another way to express yourself and your creativity. So here are the 5 beauty essentials that are helping me to express myself this spring time:

For The Body -  So...? Fragrance Body Mist...

Nothing says Spring, quite like a new Fresh, zesty scent and that is where the new *So...? Fragrance body mists come in handy. So...? recently scent (see what I did there! 😎) me three of their new fragrance mists to try and everything about them just screams Spring.

I chose the scents Sparkling Tea, Fresh Floral and Floriental - you can catch these mists features in my NEW April Favourites video and also on my Instagram, if you fancy a nose.

The packaging for each mist, is spring/summer themed and when you take it out for a quick spritz, even if it's a little dull outside, the bottle designs will definitely make you feel like it's not.

The three that I chose, each have very fresh and zesty scents, which are the scents I love the most when choosing body fragrances. I also love how neat and sleek the bottles are, it makes it so much easier to just pop one into your bag before your morning commute and pull it out quickly and easily when you need a quick spritz before your journey home again.

I like to think of these new body mists as a more mature version of the So...? body sprays, and they at only £3.99 they smell a lot better and last a lot longer than some of the more expensive perfumes I sometimes buy!

*So...? Fragrances have sent me these body mists for review, however all words and opinions are completely my own!

Plus points - Portable, Fresh scents, Affordable

For The Face - True Professional Make Up Brushes from Savers...

I picked up these brushes in savers the other day (because it is the place to be if you are looking for beauty products on a budget) and I immediately fell in love with the holographic purple style of them. I picked up the angled eyeliner, Foundation and eyeshadow brush, and found them to be a colourful addition to my spring beauty bag.

The brushes work well and are able to transfer whatever product I choose without sucking up a whole load of it, they are quite efficient in that sense.

I tend to prefer foundation brushes that have shorter handles due to problems with the dexterity of my hands, and so found the long handle on the foundation brush, quite difficult and somewhat painful to use. However, apart from that, everything else is great and it is affordable for such an attractive tool. Definitely "Instagram" worthy!

Plus Points: Stylish, Strong Bristles and Affordable

For The Skin - L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask...

Ahh these clay masks, have literally been a life saviour for my skin! I was never the type to engage in face masks, as I didn't really see the use of them, when I was using things like exfoliators and cleansers already, but oh boy, how wrong I was!

I have recently been working A LOT of lengthy, consistent shifts at work with very few days off in between and I have been reaching home and literally just falling asleep with a face full of make up - (disgusting I know) and my skin has been paying the price for it. I needed something that would strip my skin of all of the dirt and impurities that it had accumulated over my bad habits and that's where the detox mask comes in.

I have been using it for nearly a month now and I have seen such positive results in the texture, feel and overall appearance of my skin. It is clearer, softer and looks more even toned. In short, it just looks a lot cleaner and almost a little glowy - which is exactly what my dry skin requires coming out of the harsh winter months.

Plus Points - Smells great, affordable and is easy to apply and remove

For The Hair & The Skin - Vita Coco Coconut Oil...

I know a lot of people struggle with dry hair and skin through the colder months of the year, but for me, this lasts all year round. I suffer with very dry skin, which a lot of the time extends to a dry and flaky scalp (gross I know!) I have been on the hunt for a product that moisturises my hair and keeps it moisturised for longer than 24 hours, and thus I found the vita coco coconut oil.

Now my best friend has been preaching about this miracle product for years and I honestly have no idea why it took me so long to actually start using it!

As my skin and hair is so sensitive to every little thing, I decided to pick up this mirco version of the product just to see if I would agree with it. I am thankful to say that I did. Since using this, my hair and scalp, although still a little dry and flaky at times, has definitely gained a little more moisture. I tend to use it in my hair about 2 times a week, applying it directly to my scalp and the roots of my hair. It smells great and is great at locking in that extra added moisture that I need.

On my skin it performs well too, working well as a hydrating oil for my face before applying my moisturiser, primer and then full face of make-up. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and very dewy, which is like heaven for my very dry skin type.

Plus Points: Has multiple uses, long-lasting and moisturising.

For The Lips - Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick | Rebel Red...

I know that spring is all about the brighter colours and while I tend to keep within the darker remit with my fashion choices, I am all about bright bold lip colours for spring and summer! So when I attended London Fashion Festival a couple of months ago with my fave Paige from (Held Together by Pins) and came across this vivid matte liquid lipstick in the Maybelline concession stand, I just had to make sure I snatched it up!

I have been on the hunt for a red liquid lipstick for so long now and this one is quite the match for me. Although sold as a matte finish, it is anything but! I would definitely say that this is a lot more of a satin or a very mild gloss than matte. I have tried every technique under the sun and I still can't get this thing to dry matte, which is a shame because I love a matte lip. However, if I'm being completely honest, I actually prefer it this way, in all of it's shiny, glossy glory!

Plus Points: Pigmented, Bright, Easy Applicator.

And that concludes my list of beauty essentials for the Spring season (although there isn't much of Spring left) I mean, can you guys believe we are already in May?! This year is flying and I'm furiously working hard to try and meet deadlines and work on my goal of being a "better" person...Anyway, that's another story, for another day. I hope you enjoyed hearing about what beauty bits I find useful going into the warmer months of the year and hope that perhaps you've got some new suggestions for your May Beauty wishlist!

As always, thank you guys so much for reading. Until next time...
