As a schoolchild I never really considered myself as one of the "cool kids". The funny thing is, I always hung out with the "cool kids", the "pretty girls" and the "funny boys" but I always struggled to identify with these groups, because they were never my kind of cool. I've spoken before about feeling like I never really fit in, while at school, and it's true, I never did. I was always the weird Harry Potter nerd, who had braided hair, had a weird taste in fashion and the one the guys would knock fists with, rather than wrap their arms around in a warm embrace. On the surface I would smile and laugh, but internally this heavily affected my self-esteem, it knocked my confidence and it always made me feel inferior amongst my friends. It wasn't until I discovered blogging and the world of social media, that I realised there was a whole world of "my" cool out there, far beyond what I had been subjected to in the shallow world of school and I began to accept myself. So what if I pretend to practice spells from the Harry Potter world from time to time, in a way, it's kind of what makes me cool. And while, I may not go out in floral dresses or frilly tops all times of the day, my androgynous style is my own way of expression and it is what gives me my own kind of cool.

It took me a while to accept my quirks, but I finally have and I'm proud to say that they make me pretty damn cool. Here they are:

1. Awkward with the Opposite Sex:

Prior to popular belief (AKA. nobody) I am not the seductive, fiirtatious beast that so many people have implied that I am. I am awkward af in front of ANY guy I have fallen head over heels for, stumble over words in front of George Clooney lookalikes and spew verbal abuse at them in an awkward attempt to show my affection - with disastrous consequences. It's not the most beneficial tactic when it comes to bagging "the one" but it is my kind of cool and annoyingly enough, it's what makes me, me.

2. Role Play Harry Potter:

I have mini Harry Potter charms classes with myself, in which I practice most of the spells with myself and pretend to cast charms and hexes with wand hand movements and all. Oh come on, don't look at me like that. I know I'm not the only one who has tried to transfigure a McDonalds Happy Meal out of thin air...Although technically speaking, according to the five principle exceptions of Gamps law of elemental transfiguration food is one of the five exceptions and can't be conjured from magic.

3. Androgynous Style:

I wear men's clothes. Now I don't mean, full on wearing a men's tux and shoes. I mean taking, some male clothing items e.g. a baggy shirt, jumper, some braces etc. and styling them in a feminine outfit. it's androgynous styling and it's something I do oh so well. Many people have called me out on it over the years, some even suggesting that I could possibly be a lesbian - which, by the way is them being horribly judgemental. But, nope, not a lesbian, I just like styling mens clothing in an edgy and stylish way...totally kick ass cool.

4. Pseudo Living in a West End Musical:

So, whilst we're on this fabulous topic of role play, as well as acting out spells from the wizarding world, I also like to pretend that I'm the lead in a romantic/comedy/musical from time to time. I'll put my headphones in and while cruising down the highway in my big red car (A.K.A the bus) I'll pensively stare out of the window as I contemplate life's many mysteries.

5. Weird Food Combinations:

I eat the weirdest things and food combinations. I get really angsty about food and I am a very picky eater. But with that being said, I am also known to eat the weirdest combinations of food - trust me, it's disgusting. I won't go into my weird and wonderful food combinations on here, but they are one of the many things that make me, me.

6. I am Alex Turner's Wife:

In an ideal world, I am totally married to Alex Turner, living in a boho-chic Malibu apartment and the author of several popular novels. This is all in my mind by the way and I'm not even sorry. I know. It's oh so weird, but it is oh so wonderful at the same time and it is just one of the many ways I am living my own kind of cool, with my own cool rockstar.

Ok, so maybe my version of cool is what others may call weird and somewhat abnormal. Does it really matter though? NO! It doesn't. You can be however abnormal or weird you want to be, because what even is normal anyway? I guess what I'm trying to say, is what I wish I knew back in high school....'Be your own kind of cool guys and gals. But most importantly...be you.'

These photos are a series of bare faced photos. I took them in an attempt to draw attention to the beauty of  bare face and how effective a simple make up look could be...I hope you like them.
