'Black is a beautiful colour. It has the ability to bring life to a what was once dead and still landscape'

Hello lovely people (or readers - if there are any of you left). It has been around 2 months since my last outfit post and I have been itching ever since to get back in front of the camera to shoot some more. Thank the holy heavens that on Monday I managed to do just that. Armed with a very scenic location (fryent country park), a car (to travel to said scenic location), and my best friend and photographer for the day (Sabreena - The Girl in the City) I was finally able to get a few pretty shots of me standing around in some very autumnal (borderline - Harry Potter-esque) clothing.

Like most of the clothes I feature in my outfit posts, I bought this dress over a year ago and as I mean to go on, never stepped foot in it from the very day it arrived at my door, with the postman. However, on Blue Monday, I decided that enough was enough and it was time to shoot this bad boy. It was black, it was simple and it was very I-look-like-I'm-wearing-a-very-stylish-harry-potter-cloak, so totally up my street.

Being a short person, who just about surpasses the threshold of petite territory, I tend to steer clear of skirts or dresses that fall below knee and calf. More importantly those with hems that swing. I tend to think that they make me look shorter and more muggle like than I actually am. However this dress has changed my mind. Armed with a new favourite felt fedora and a location that looked like it was handpicked right out of the Forbidden Forest itself, this look has definitely been one of my favourite shoots to date.

The dress is from Boohoo and as I said was bought last year winter, only to never see the light of day for an entire year. However once finally worn, I have never known a dress to make me look so conservative yet so damn edgy and cool at the same time. When I put this dress on, it clings to my curves like a monkey clings on to a branch and it makes me feel elegant and feminine. The A line skirt is big and swishy, which is just what one needs when trying to look effortlessly chic and feminine, like I'm so desperately trying to do below. (I wonder if it worked?)

This dress just makes me fall in love with Boohoo all-over-again! Their clothes are always affordable, stylish and are so perfect if you're looking for that piece that looks a little bit different to what everyone else has on from the high street. With the dress's billowing skirt and the wide brim fedora, the look gives off a kind of Christian Dior-esque air, which just breathes classic fashion. Quick! Someone go and fetch my horse and carriage from the stables.

The boots, like the dress are simple in colour and style but tie the whole look together in a very, farmer-girl chic kind of way. They are from H&M (because in all honesty, do I ever shop anywhere else these days?...Apart from Boohoo) and are of a faux suede brown material. These boots are like heaven on earth; comfy to walk in and manage to be styled with just about any outfit under the sun, they are so versatile.
