A lot has changed since the humble beginnings of 'The Blonde Salad' and 'Man Repeller' starting their blogs. And it has most definitely changed since the beginnings of YouTube and the explosion of success from the likes of Zoella and Sprinkle of Glitter. Youtubers and bloggers are now writing and publishing books - erm what?! They're bringing out their own cosmetic and hair extension lines - erm double WHAT?! It's crazy how much has changed over the years. But you know what, that's the internet, social media is fluid and it is ever changing and if Instagram is the future of blogging, (which god forbid I hope it's not) then that's just how it goes! With constant change, it's hard to predict what phenomenon will take over next, but here are 7 of my predictions for blogging in 2016, I hope you enjoy!:

1. Heather will become the next Zoella:
I mean come on, we share the same birthday, we're obviously soul sisters, it's written in the stars! I'm joking... I think! No really - I am. I don't want to be the next Zoella, she's already been done. I want to be the next Heather, and while I don't crave the fame and success that a lot of big YouTubers and Bloggers have (I don't think I could deal with it tbh!) I still would love to be able to touch a certain audience with my writing and my content. In 2016 I hope to humour more with my writing, continue to educate people about mental health, it's diagnosis & treatment and most importantly give people a voice, and encourage change in an ever discriminating society! I want to inspire younger girls who don't necessarily look like "the girl next door" to dress a little differently, to not conform for want of fitting in and that being different and looking different is actually pretty damn cool - it's the new normal tbh!

2. Bloggers and Youtubers will continue to conquer the world:
Beauty lines, clothing design collaborations and even Television adverts! Bloggers are everywhere and on just about everything these days, and in 2016 as blogging continues to become the new norm, I can only imagine that their reach and success will continue to grow! Very soon, I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing bloggers and YouTubers on the side of buses, in beauty adverts and probably writing a lot more books - even though there are so many of them already! In 2016 we will be a force to be reckoned with, so watch out world!

3. There will be another new "thing":
There's always some new thing or other in the blogging world, whether it's a marble themed product, some designer at London Fashion Week or the latest Charlotte Tilbury product, there's always something that has got our toes tingling and our mind whirring with ideas on how to feature it and incorporate it onto our blogs - and I can't wait to see what the thing/s of 2016 will be!

4. Trousers with Dresses will become a "thing" for fashion bloggers:
Oh yes they will, and you will love it - because well, you're a fashion blogger - duh?! Haha - I'm only joking, you probably won't love it, but I'm pretty sure it's going to filter into a few outfit shots next year, I'm already planning a few of my outfits with this trend! It was featured on the runways of London and New York SS16, and it has already been a feature of discussion on Man Repeller's site - who is always in the know, which totally makes it a thing right?

5. Blog Designs will become E-zine Designs:
More and more bloggers are opting for a fully kitted out website, complete with a swanky design, crisp photos and interactive elements to entice the reader. It seems like every blogger these days is relaunching & upgrading their site - and there's nothing wrong with that at all, even I've got one planned for the new year! I think it's something that is essential if you're looking to make blogging a full time profession, it shows you're serious, that you take pride in your site and that you are passionate about the craft of blogging! I was thinking about it the other day and these upgraded designs are transforming our journal style of blogging into swanky online magazines, some with designs that even the likes of cosmo and vogue would envy!
6. More Bloggers & Youtubers will become household names:
The names of Zoella, Tanya Burr, Alfie Deye's etc. have slowly started to become household names as they have filtered into the world of merchandising and entrepreneurship. As blogging and YouTube becomes more understood by the masses, entire families will start to know their names. Especially as the first generation to grow up with YouTube and blogging move into adulthood and start to have families of their own, they will be passing on their love of reading blogs and watching youtube videos onto their little kiddies, therefore reinforcing their popularity.

7. Blogging will become a recognised profession:
Ok so that's a bit optimistic methinks - what can I say - I've always been a 'grass is always greener on the other side' kind of girl! Ok, so it might not happen in 2016, but I definitely think in the near future more and more children will be going into their careers office asking the careers advisor how to become a blogger or a youtuber! It will become a recognised job, with actual regulations and information regarding pay, working with brands etc. It will be seen as a lot more than just sitting in front of your computer screen, filming yourself on a camera and taking pictures of yourself in clothes - it will be least I hope it will!

What are your predictions for blogging in 2016? Do you agree with my predictions?
