Trends From the Catwalk: SS16

Saturday, 3 October 2015

So with London and New York Fashion Week week well and truly over, and I am feeling so inspired by all the different trends that were on the catwalk. So in the post I thought that I would recap on all the trends we can expect to see come SS16 alongside some products from this season which embody these trends.
Sheer Fabrics
There was a whole load of sheer on the runway this season and I loved it! There is something about sheer clothes that is somewhat mysterious yet sexy at the same time. Sheer lust comes from DKNY, Simone Rocha & 1205, daring but feminine. Will you be rocking the sheer trend next season?

Off the shoulder sleeves
Now I've never actually liked an off the shoulder sleeve top or dress, but after seeing Proenza Schouler's SS16 line - I am desperate to start wearing off the shoulder clothes. There's something quite casual yet feminine about off the shoulder sleeves and I can't wait to wear these style of dresses come spring!

Something I usually associated with the colder months of the year, I found it interesting to see how many designers were trending towards to lace. And it was executed beautifully, with lace being complimented with bright colours and A-line shapes. I am absolutely loving the bright lace dresses seen at Bora Aksu and can't wait to rock all the colourful lace come summer time next year!

Dress/Trouser Hybrid
I think this one was actually a lot more subtle, but there were a few designers making reference to this trend. An obvious one came from Julian Macdonald in the stunning white and dress with a deep parting, revealing some beautifully matching trousers. I absolutely love the idea of trousers with dresses, but I think it's one that hasn't quite latched on to the entire fashion industry just yet. But slowly over the years it has filtered down through fashion from Emma Watson's daring dior dress/trousers hybrid look on the golden globes red carpet in 2014 and I think in a few years it's something that's going to become a lot more of a popular trend!

Would you rock any of these trends? What was your favourite trend throughout Fashion Month?

Thank you for reading guys, until next time I'm...
