6 Things we can learn from the Gossip Girl Characters

Gossip Girl characters

Ahh man, I LOVE and really miss Gossip Girl, so writing this post really was not easy! It definitely unearthed a lot of feelings! *Wipes tears with sleeve* I really wished they never cancelled it because it really was a good show (damn you CW you always cancel the best ones)! A lot of people just saw the show for what it was on the surface, money, sex and drama. But it was so much more than that and the characters had so much more depth than what people initially perceived. So get your pocket squares and Alice bands out as I tell you the 6 things you can learn from the Upper East Side's (Or Brooklyn if you're a Humphrey!) most elite and youngest residents!

Chuck Bass - I mean come on does he even need an introduction. Dark, brooding and oh so handsome. His traumatic daddy boy issues has us screaming at the TV urging him to  open up and let people in. He is one of the most dark and troublesome characters, but also the most inspirational. He shows us that throughout the struggle, and throughout the pain (who can forget that tear-jerking moment when Elizabeth told Chuck she wasn't his real mother *sheds buckets of tears*), we can all change and become a better person. Chuck Bass is proof that no matter how hard you have had it, life can and will get better!

Nathaniel Archibald - Ok so Nate, may not have gone through as huge a transformation as Chuck, because he was never really a "bad . He was always Mr goody two shoes! But what Nate teaches us is compassion and seeing the best in people. Nate stuck by his father when he went to jail and he stepped up to help protect and take care of his mother. Nate is a family man and he teaches us the art of standing by those we love most in times of hardship. Even though his cousin Trip was an absolute arse (and his Grandfather too for that matter), Nate stuck by them until the very end - he showed compassion. He chose to see the best in all these people, and did not judge them by their past mistakes, and that to me, is very admirable!

Dan Humphrey - Clever, witty and always honest. Learning to live life on the Upper East side wasn't easy for Dan. But he teaches us it sometimes pays to step out of your comfort zone into a world completely different than your own. It can teach us new things about ourselves and open up doors to opportunities we never thought were possible.

Jenny Humphrey - Now I know Jenny Humphrey did a lot of bad, a whole lotta bad ( like jumping in to bed with Chuck) and ( playing accomplice to the drugging of Serena) but we can't deny her determination. Little J was willing to do whatever, wherever to rule as Queen. While this determination is inspiring it is important not to forget yourself in the process! Love what you do and do what you love, trying to be something you're not to please others will get you nowhere (except maybe banished from your hometown!)

Serena Van Der Woodsen - Just like Chuck, Serena epitomises the power of change. She came back from boarding school, reputation tarnished, but determined to clean up her act. And she did! There were so many people who didn't believe in Serena, who tried to bring her down, but she kept strong, held her head up high and proved everyone wrong!

Blair Waldorf - And finally, Queen B! Her title precedes her, she is an icon, a trend-setter and all round superwoman. She teaches us so many things, all of which can't be listed on here. But perhaps the main thing that can be learnt from Blair is that you are your greatest strength. She shows us that she doesn't need Chuck, family or friends to succeed. She did it all on her own and you can too! Believe in yourself, you have the strength to go far, you just need to believe!

And that's it! Many people loathed the show and said that it set all the wrong examples for young viewers, but I think that is just an ignorant way of looking at it, it is just an observation of what is seen on the surface. Gossip Girl goes so much more deeper than that, I have learnt so much from the show and the characters and I owe a lot to them! Thank you Gossip girl!
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Who was your favourite character? Is there anything else you have learnt from them or the show? Let me know in the comments below! :)

As always thank you for reading lovelies. Until next time I'm...
