ShoeBox Jukebox Event: With Next & Company Magazine

Saturday, 18 April 2015

Now let me start off by saying two things. First a huge thank you to Next and Company Magazine for allowing me to attend Shoebox Jukebox last night, I literally couldn't believe I had won the competition when I received the email from Company and I never win anything so this was quite a big deal to me! And the second, last night was probably one of the best nights I have had in a long time! and it was the perfect breather away from all the horrid nightmares of dissertation and exam revision that I have been having!

So what event was this? It was the wonderful ShoeBox Jukebox event for Next Official, which I'm sure if you follow me on twitter would have seen me tweeting about excitedly all week! The event marked the launch of their new line of shoes, which I have to say were beautiful by the way, now I'm not someone who shops at Next frequently but after last night I think I might be taking a few more trips there in the somewhat near future (apologies to my bank account in advance). It was a beautiful night, filled with shoes, amazing people, plenty of drinks and of course more shoes! We were allowed to take one guest with us (life saver - because I don't what I would've done if I had to go on my own!), so naturally I took my best friend and fellow blogger Sabreena from NorenzoJewellery, who have some lovely accessories by the way, check them out!

So of course there was the initial excitement of the old 'Omg yay I'm going to an actual fashion event, with like really well-known bloggers and next and company magazine and - and - and! And then came the dreaded, trivial question that passes every girls mind "What on earth am I going to wear?!!!" Cue panic mode, run around the house and pace up and down room for a good 2 days mode! I'm joking I didn't actually do that, I did however spend quite some time feeling like a complete failure because I just could not decide what to wear, I was so indecisive and super critical and picky with everything! Do any of you have this problem when an events coming up? Do you ever just not know what to wear? Let me know in the comments below, at least then I won't feel like a complete weirdo! Anyway in the end I wore a lovely pair of navy blue trousers and lace crop bralet from Missguided, a Primark longline blazer and of course a lovely pair of T-bar heels from Next who kindly gifted everyone a pair from their collection (the heel was just dreamy, it reminded me of Cinderella's glass slippers, but the sassier version!). It was minimal and chic with a hint of sassiness thrown in, just how I like it! I will also be doing a separate outfit post on this look hopefully next week, so keep your eye peeled guys!

Now on to the event, which was wonderfully organised, and an even better venue to match. Down in good old east London (where all the cool people live...obvs the reason why I live in North London!) it was a small but intimate venue, with blaring neon lights blaring and an interior (and playlist) that was so inviting, the team really did a good job decorating as it looked great! Now I would say that I am still a blogging event virgin, having only ever attended 2 events before previously, and so this was a very scary and nerve - racking experience for me, I was worried I would look stupid, and even considered turning right back round when I saw all the glamorous looking people inside, but opportunity and more importantly the music was too good a thing to miss! So I swallowed my fear, gave myself a mental kick up the old backside and went inside!

As we entered, the room was aglow with a mix of fashionably dressed, gorgeous people and lots and lots of shoes hehe! The inner child in me, literally wanted to run and try every single pair on, but adult me saw sense and adapted a cool, yet excited exterior. And it didn't stop there, there were nail technicians available to spruce up your nails, dancers who performed some great routines, games to win a pair of Next shoes and perhaps my favourite design bar, where you could decorate a pair of Next trainer shoes! Not to mention the generous amount of alcohol made available throughout the entire night, what more could a girl ask for on a Friday night out? and even better to spend it with my best friend!

All in all I had a wonderful night, I met some lovely people, ate some lovely food and just revelled in the beauty that is fashion and clothes and shoes and events and all they have to offer (and that's a whole lot of and's!). I really hope I get to attend a event like this soon, because I really enjoyed it, and maybe next time I won't be so nervous! So sorry for the rubbish quality and lack of photos, I did actually have my new DSLR camera, but was just too lazy to carry it around man, I'm still getting used to the blogger life and forget that having a camera with you at all times is an absolute given! My iPhone did an ok job, besides I was too busy having fun to take photos. I hope the above are sufficient enough!

How did you like Next's shoes? Do you enjoy going to events? Let me know in the comments below and I will always reply back!
