Can you let go?

Wednesday, 10 September 2014

So while scrolling through my Facebook news feed today I came across a quote (as that’s seems to be all there is on Facebook these days), and it spoke to me in the most enlightening and eye-opening way. It reads:

‘You have to let people go. Everyone who’s in your life are meant to be in your journey, but not all of them are meant to stay till the end.’
Letting go is one of the hardest things in life to do. A while back I fell in love with a guy (as you do a lot when you're in your 20's!) I thought he was my soulmate, but things quickly came to a crashing halt. I tried everything to get over  him, I started a new hobby (well tried my hand at fencing but failed miserably) went for wild night’s out on the town, and ate junk food to my heart’s content, I tried everything known to man but nothing I did seemed to do me any justice! Over time I started to see him less and the feelings weakened but that didn’t mean they weren’t still there. I was constantly thinking that one day we would be able to be together, until today I was still thinking this way until I came across this quote. As simple as it may be, it helped me to realise that even though him and I were never going to be together. I was still blessed with many things from meeting him, he showed me how to smile and live again, taught me to be happy and showed me that there was light at the end of what seemed like a dark tunnel. We will all encounter some form of loss in our life journey whether it's a loved one passing away, the end of a friendship or  through divorce and these losses can be difficult to deal with. But it is important to remember that these losses are a part of life and they help us to learn and grow, just because the person is gone doesn't mean that we forget them it just means that we move on from them, to the next chapter of our Journey.
Tell me guys, have you ever had a love which you found hard to let go of?

  1. Heather its so inspirational how open you can be with your thoughts. I really like this post.

I think when you fall in love with someone, you think there isn't anything beyond it in the world, and when it ends people lose hope/faith and so on. However, what people forget is the innocence and purity of the love you were in. Sometimes we must think of what we gained from the journey instead of being upset about how it ended. (which is exactly what your post states so I am just repeating to say I get it lol).

    Love, Harpreet x
